GERMAN DIRECTIVE FOR THE INJECTION OF CEMENT GROUT IN PRESTRESSING DUCTS (NOV. 1970)

RICHTLINIEN FUER DAS EINPRESSEN VON ZEMENTMOERTEL IN SPANNKANAELE. (FASSUNG NOVEMBER 1970)

The German directives deal mainly with the characteristics of injection grouts for prestressed concrete ducts. The main aim of the grouts is to protect steel against corrosion. The specifications concern the following: (1) Various ingredients in grouts, in particular the admixtures, which must be officially approved cement the age of which must be checked together with the weight of the bags, water, which must be drinking water or be subjected to a preliminary chemical analysis. Its CL content must not exceed 300 MG/L; (2) Workability, the water content must be smaller than 0.44; (3) Bleeding which must not exceed 2% in volume after three hours; (4) compressive strength and resistance to frost; (5) cleaning of ducts before injection; (6) P-bcautions to be taken in cold weather; (7) Control and acceptance tests. Details are given of the measuring apparatus. And procedures for workability, bleeding compressive strength and frost resistance tests. Comments are made on the interest of special cement for injection, on warning against reinjection of grout after the first injection, which leads to statistically unsatisfactory results; and on the importance of control and acceptance tests. The acceptance test can be omitted. When the grout has been subjected to quality control tests less than 2 months previously. Apparatus and control equipment must be available at the right moment on the site and delivered with a calibration certificate. During cold weather, it is recommended to carry out acceptance tests including a frost resistance test. It is not recommended to heat up the grout or its conctituents as, during cooling in the ducts, its properties are completely modified, in particular bleeding increases markedly.
