FAA Aerospace Forecast: Fiscal Years 2016-2036

This document starts with a review of U.S. aviation in 2015. It then provides forecasts for U.S. Airlines, General Aviation, Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) Operations, U.S. Commercial Aircraft Fleet, Unmanned Aircraft Systems, and Commercial Space Transportation. Forecast highlights include: U.S. carrier passenger growth over the next 20 years to average 2.1 percent per year; system traffic in revenue passenger miles is projected to increase by 2.6 percent a year between 2016 and 2036; the long term outlook for general aviation is favorable; and operations at FAA and contract towers are forecast to increase 0.9 percent a year over the forecast period.
