ANALYSIS AND DESIGN OF REINFORCED CONCRETE BRIDGE STRUCTURES

These recommendations for analysis and design are part of a series of reports which will ultimately be combined by ACI Committee 443 to make a complete recommended practice for reinforced concrete bridges. The section on ultimate load analysis and strength design is patterned after ACI 318-71 and strength design criteria of the Federal Highway Administration. Criteria for deflection and fatigue loading to assure minimum serviceability requirements of structures meeting these strength requirements are given. There is also a working stress design procedure intended for use in small bridges, which satisfies both strength and serviceability requirements.
