Data and Methods to Understand Travel

This issue contains 15 papers concerning data and methods to understand travel. Specific topics covered are as follows: integrating adaptive lighting database with SHRP 2 data; validating rail transit assignment models; demographic characterization of anonymous trace travel data; and improved travel time estimation for closed highways. Additional topics include performance measures to characterize corridor travel time delay; shock wave boundary identification using cloud-based probe data; use of multisensor data in reliable short-term travel time forecasting for urban roads; and dynamic traffic flow model for travel time estimation.
