ICBC Road Improvement Program: 25 Years On
The Road Improvement Program (RIP), part of ICBC’s multi-sectoral Road Safety Management initiative, develops and leads a host of safety projects promoting Safer Roads and Mobility. Celebrating 25 years in 2015, the RIP partners with road authorities in BC to provide engineering/technical advice and funding ($130M since inception) for safer road infrastructure. The RIP coordinates with ICBC’s education and enforcement initiatives (currently targeting Impaired Driving, High-Risk Driving, and Driver Distractions) and specialists on Safer Vehicles, VRUs, and Youth. Thsi program was nominated for the TAC 2015 Road Safety Engineering Award.
