Provision of telematics research
This report looks at telematics-based insurance products in the UK and their impact on novice drivers. In-vehicle telematics that collect vehicle data such as speed, exposure and location are being used by some UK insurers. This data can be used to assess driving styles and behavior and incentives may be utilized to further encourage safe driving. This report includes a literature review on telematics and accident rates and it looks at other countries' policies related to telematics. In addition, insurance data is evaluated and a methodology is established to determine road safety impacts based on a comparison of novice drivers with a telematics-based insurance product and those without.
