CONSOLIDATION OF A LAYER UNDER A STRIP LOAD. A CLOSURE

The authors welcome the analytic solution presented by Booker and claim that the results presented by the latter, support the accuracy of the finite element calculations through the most significant portions of the consolidation process. It is hoped that the modifications proposed by Booker to handle anisotropic permeability will be made and that a number of cases will be run extending the range of a/H and k sub H/k sub v values. Corrections that should be made in the original paper relating to Table 1 and equation II are noted.
