A PRACTICAL METHOD OF ROAD TRAFFIC MEASUREMENT

A simple, cheap, versatile and quick random-sampling method of measuring road traffic noise, developed by public health inspectors in Southampton, is reviewed. The method uses a sound level meter capable of registering on the 'A' frequency-weighting network at a slow setting, and readings are taken every 5 seconds for 10 minutes at a time.
