LEAD CONCENTRATION IN A TRAFFIC CONGESTED AREA

UBER-DIE BLEIKORZENTRATION IN STAURAUM-EINER KREUZUNG

The material collected here is intended to describe the present situation in a road of Vienna carrying a heavy traffic load. Owing to the sampling technique, only lead of stable compounds has been detected. The mean value of 639 samples amounts to 2.5 microgams/cubic meter, the highest value measured between 12.00 and 15.00 hours on a Monday 14 micrograms/cubic meter, and the lowest one 0.2 micrograms/cubic meter measured on a Wednesday between 0.00 and 3.00 hours in the night. If one regards the sum that 68 percent of them are lower than 3 micrograms/cubic meter. During the whole period reported, there were only four three-hour intervals of a concentration higher than 10 micrograms/ cubic meter. The dependency of the lead concentration on the traffic is apparent. The minimum found on Sunday is statistically confirmed with a probability of error of 1 percent only. /SRIS/
