IS THE COMPUTATION OF NOISE LEVEL INSIDE A CAR FEASIBLE

The improved comfort of future cars implies a substantial reduction of the noise level in the passenger compartment. A knowledge of the acoustical properties of the air volume limited by the compartment panels is essential in a noise study. The present paper shows how, from a simple mathematical model giving the required properties at low frequencies, it is possible to compute the natural frequencies and modes of the volume (eigenvalues problem) and to find out which panels are responsible for the induced noise in the compartment. /AUTHOR/
