GAS-POWERED BUS

Munich transport authorities are going to put into service a bus powered by natural gas. The engine is claimed to reduce the toxic content of exhaust fumes by 60 to 90 percent; the total manufacturing costs are only 10 percent more than those of an orthodix bus. The liquefied gas is kept in cryogenic tanks at a temperature o -160 degrees C. It passes into a warming chamber where it vaporizes. Before it reaches the engine, it is mixed with a controlled amount of air. /IRRD-IRF/
