Optimization of Regional Railway Fast Freight Transport Routes: Case Study of China’s Yangtze River Delta Area

With the implementation of China's "twelfth five-year" plan of railway network, the existing transport capacity is gradually transforming from restrained type to loose type, which brings new opportunities for the development of railway fast freight transport. On the premise of complete construction of the planning railway network, combined with the trend of the reform and development of railway freight transportation, this paper expounds the opportunities and challenges faced by the railway fast freight in China, and investigates the necessity of optimizing regional railway fast freight transport route. The authors perform the principal component analysis (PCA) to establish a regression model of synthetical importance of node to rank regional nodes (cities). Based on that, with the goal of minimizing the operation cost and transport cost of damage, they establish the multiple constraint mathematical model with time windows and optimize regional fast freight routes. Finally, they put forward the improved jump-queue algorithm, accelerating the pace of the target search. In addition, taking China's Yangtze river delta region as example, the authors set Nanxiang station in Shanghai as the begin and end of the train station and choose the best path for railway fast freight. Under different constraint conditions, taking minimum operation cost and supply loss as objective function, they validate the effectiveness of the model and algorithm . The research results provide guidance for the selection of regional railway fast freight routes in China.
