Physical Modeling of First-Year Ice Ridges - Part II: Mechanical Properties
Part I of this paper describes the production, consolidation and physical properties of some ridges modelled in the Hamburg Ship Model Basin (HSVA). The present paper elaborates on three point bending tests of the consolidated layer of the ridges and presents some findings of the mechanical behaviour during rubble testing. The mechanical testing of the rubble was performed by push down testing, i.e. plates of different types were pushed through the ridge while measuring deformation and forces.
