SOIL STABILISATION

Penetratable ground may be stabilized and rendered waterproof by injecting into it a grout consisting of water, a high swelling bentonitic clay and Na silicate with Na phosphate (both 0.5-0.6 percent on water used) as a peptising agent, together with finely ground basic furnace slag, 40-100 percent by weight of the bentonitic clay. One used had the composition; water 500, bentonitic clay 60, slag 45, sodium silicate 29 sodium phosphate 3 parts by weight.
