THE RIGHT MACHINE-AVAILABLE WHEN NEEDED-AT THE LOWEST TOTAL COST

The two principal features of a fleet management system are described. They are: a purchasing system stressing lowest total owning and operating costs, and a monthly computerized machine cost/utilization report. Three alternatives offered when advertising for bids on any piece of equipment are described in outline. Details are given of performance bonds (on the guaranteed maintenance and buy-back clauses) which must be posted by successful bidders on all total cost contracts. The net effects of the total cost purchasing and the cost/utilization were, more efficient equipment management and the lowest cost per hour machines.
