EXPERIMENTS WITH ROUGHENED 'LUCY ASHTON' GEOSIMS
An attempt has been made to devise a method of subdividing the total resistance into components with the help of rough model experiments, thereby obviating the need for friction formulations. The method involves attaining a constant specific frictional resistance independent of Reynolds number at non-wavemaking speeds and then utilizing this characteristic in deducing the specific pressure resistance. Experiments were conducted with two roughened 'Lucy Ashton' models and the results are presented.
