HUMAN PERCEPTION OF TRANSIENT VIBRATIONS

An experimental investigation was conducted to study human perception of transient vertical vibrations in terms of their frequency, maximum displacement, and damping. A portion of the testing program consisted of undamped vibrations, and the response data were compared with the results of past research. Mutliple regression analyses of the test data yield simple equations for predicting the human perception of either damped or undamped vertical vibrations.
