Details are given of the Derby town centre traffic management scheme which includes a one-way system with several contra flow and priority bus lanes and a restriction on traffic access to the central area. The preliminary traffic analysis and counts and the work needed to implement the scheme are described; the latter included the installation of traffic signals and erection of signs, the reorganization of bus routes and stopping places of bus services and a major publicity campaign to inform people of the changes taking place.
