SINGLE-AXLE TRUCKS AND ARTICULATED CONNECTIONS FOR MULTIPLE-UNIT, HIGH CAPACITY RAILWAY CARS
Outlines the development program for and describes the design of single-axle trucks and articulated connections. These components were developed, manufactured, and applied to an articulated, multiple-unit, high-capacity hopper car. The functioning characteristics of the single-axle trucks, suspension, and articulated connections are discussed and a summary of road test results is given. Conclusions are drawn in regard to feasibility and practicability of using single-axle trucks and articulated connections for multiple-unit, high-capacity cars.
