THE MONITORING OF ROCK SLOPES

The article reviews principles of rock slope monitoring and describes the equipment used in two methods, (a) movement monitoring and (b) indirect monitoring. Details are given of the instrumentation for optical surveying, electro-optic distance measurement, photogrammetric measurement, surface extensometers, settlement instruments, drillhole extensometers, inclinometers, probe inclinometers, water level meters, piezometers, load cells, pressure cells, and apparatus for measuring rock noise. /TRRL/
