SIMPLIFIED MODEL OF CREEP AND SHRINKAGE EFFECTS IN REINFORCED CONCRETE FLEXURAL MEMBERS

A simplified method is presented for the analysis of creep and shrinkage effects in reinforced concrete flexural members. The cracked rectangular section of the member is Replaced by an idealized equivalent I-section. Basic concrete behavior is represented by the dischinger equation of state in the present paper; however, the idealized I-section can be used equally well with other constitutive relations. A general equation is derived for the time-varying behavior of the flexural member. A comparison of calculations made using the simplified analysis and using a more accurate analysis shows good agreement. /Author/
