SUBSTRAND'S ORC ENGINE GOES FOR A BUS RIDE

A bus engine prototype, a closed Rankine cycle engine that utilizes an organic working fluid and a turbine expander to provide power to the transmission and driveshaft is described. Engine performance and efficiency characteristics are evaluated for the external combustion design, which can utilize a wide variety of fuels and offers reduced emission of pollutants, and lower vibration and noise levels.
