Field tests of the Miniature Thermal Bar Torch (MTKT) indicate that it has far greater cutting power and operation capabilities than the oxyacetylene torch. The MTBT can operate effectively above the 6,000-degree range and can be lit and operated on land or water without prior preheating or special preparation. It can be carried and operated by one man. It has the potential for use in nonexplosive demolition roles and for use in civilian rescue operations, such as car wrecks where victims are trapped inside.
