INTEREST AND DIFFICULTY OF THE AGGRAGATE MOISTURE CONTENT MEASUREMENT BY NEUTRON PROBE IN A CONCRETE MIXING PLANT

INTERET ET DIFFICULTE DE LA MESURE DE LA TENEUR EN EAU DES GRANULATS, PAR SONDE NEUTRONIQUE DANS UNE CENTRALE FABRIQUANT DU BETON

The article consists of a short extract from the report presented by M. Baron at the study days on the industrial measurement of moisture content in solids and liquids. The measurement of the moisture content of aggregates used in concrete mixing plants has hever been carried out accurately by means of conventional methods. The neutron probe seems to bring an interesting solution to the problem. The author briefly reviews: factors influencing neutron probes, chemical composition dry density, calibration problems, laboratory study of the response of a neutron probe, and testing of the method in a mixing plant.
