NEW RIVER "ICEBREAKER" DEVELOPED
A new "icebreaker" for use in rivers and other navigable waters, and developed by the U.S. Coast Guard, is described. Its method of operation and degree of efficiency achieved in field tests are given. Field test results demonstrate that this mechanical ice cutter is a viable system for cutting and clearing a channel in ice.
