THE CASE FOR VOITH--SCHNEIDER PROPULSION
A description and explanation of the Voith-Schneider propulsion system, used mainly for tugboats, river steamers, dredges and other type of craft requiring manuverability, is presented. Accidents common to conventional tugs, such as "girting" and being "run-down" are explained, and the manner in which the Voith-Schneider system overcomes these problems is also explained. Applications of this system to engineering projects is also explained in the article.
