Development of Electro-Pulsed Method for Preventing Ice Difficulties Connected with the Presence of Ice Cover

The paper highlights the new method for moving away an ice cover or preventing it from forming nearby certain areas: ports, oil derricks, lighthouses, piers and for preventing ice difficulties on rivers in spring time with a subsequent prevention of flooding caused by ice blockages or jams. The method is based on electrolysis of water and usage of natural warmth of near-bottom layers of water. It provides 1) anticipatory electrolysis of water under the layer of ice and 2) the spark through the oxygen-hydrogen mixture formed by the electrolysis. The blowing-up of the mixture prevents ice formation or destroys the ice cover already formed. However power of the blowing-up is regulated and very low energy impulses with rather high frequency are used. The method does not harm the environment for in the beginning of its application the water is decomposed and then united again.
