CATHODIC PROTECTION OF WIRE ROPE
The equations describing the cathodic protection of wire rope are developed. The author shows that the equations depend on a set of geometric as well as material properties of the wire rope and the electrochemical properties of the fluid environment. The equations predict the length of rope that will be protected for a specified current. Limitations to be realized in the application of these equations and the assumptions inherent in the theoretical development are discussed.
