TEMPERATURE SPECTRA RECORDED IN SURFACINGS ON STEEL BRIDGE DECKS

The composite action of the surfacing material laid on a steel bridge deck is dependent on temperature and this in consequence is an important factor in relating stresses in the structural deck to the loads applied by vehicles. Temperatures at the mid depth of surfacings at three sites have been recorded. This report presents these data in the form of the percentage of time the surfacing temperature is within 5 degree C intervals over the range-15 degree C to 60 degree C. The percentages are given for each hour of the day and also summed over two years for each site. /Author/
