A Study on Crossing Angle of Pedestrians on Tram Track in Transit Mall

トランジットモールにおける軌道上歩行者の横断角に関する考察

There are many foreign examples of “Transit Mall” which characterizes Light Rail Transit system. But road or traffic administrators have inadequate knowledge for structure of such malls and also have poor understanding of mixed traffic in the mall. Despite relatively rare case that pedestrians walk on the track, the image of "transit mall = mixed traffic" have been strongly burned into brains of Japanese people. This seems to be a chief cause of no realization of transit mall in Japan. In this study, the authors investigated the street structure of the transit mall overseas, analyzed for traffic situation of pedestrians in the mall, and have found the relationship between the crossing angle of pedestrian and track width or vehicle frequency. Based on these analyses, the authors consider the rest assignments for realization of transit mall in Japan.LRTを特徴づける要素の一つとしてトランジットモールがあり，海外には多数の実例が存在する．しかし，日本ではトランジットモールの構造およびモール内における歩行者の通行状況などに対する実態の理解が十分ではなく，実際には歩行者が軌道上を歩行するケースが比較的希であるにもかかわらず，「トランジットモール＝混合交通」というイメージが定着してしまっている．このことは，日本においてトランジットモールが実現しにくくなっている原因の一つではないかと思われる．本研究では，海外のトランジットモールの街路構造を調査するとともに，モール内における歩行者の通行状況について分析し，軌道幅員や交通頻度と歩行者の横断角との関係を明らかにした．また，分析に基づいて，わが国でトランジットモールを実現するには，どのような課題が存在するかについても考察した．
