PLANNING FOR THE BICYCLE AS A FORM OF TRANSPORTATION

A Bikeway System Planning Manual has been prepared for assisting public officials and bicycle enthusiast groups in designing and implementing safe and economic bikeways in the local community. Detailed quidelines for policy planning, functional planning and implementation planning are included. The manual is based on a comprehensive overview of the available literature of bikeway systems planning and substantially reflects the state-of-the-art. The format of the manual is structured to provide users with a systematic and practical approach to the full range of issues to be addressed in planning and constructing a bikeway system. /HSRI/
