HIGH CUBE GETS EVEN HIGHER
High cube gets even higher as railroads work to better match their cars with the loads they will carry. Two recent examples are provided by conversions made in the shops of the Norfolk and Western and Canadian Pacific. N&W started with an existing high-cube car and made it even bigger. CP Rail, on the other hand, commenced with conventional 40-ft box cars and transformed them into a high-cube configuration, producing a design which can move back and forth across Canada always under load.
