Green Development Status and its Improvement Path for China’s Petroleum Industry

Due to the problems and deficiencies in such aspects as oil and gas mining, oil refining and petrochemical, and oil and gas storage and transportation, there is an increasing trend in the energy consumption as well as the emissions of waste water, waste gas and solid waste in China’s oil industry. The rapid development of the oil industry has created great difficulties and uncertainties to energy conservation and emission reduction, greenhouse gas control and maintenance of ecosystem stability. With the aim of solving the above-mentioned problems, this paper presents an analysis of the green development status as well as opportunities and challenges of China’s petroleum industry; as a result of comprehensively considering cleaner production, recycling economy, energy saving and emission reduction, and low carbon requirements, the diversified green development paths are put forward to provide strategic decision-making basis for the sustainable development of the oil industry.
