Side Guards for Trucks and Trailers Phase 1: Background Investigation
This report looks at the state of the practice for truck and trailer side guards in North America, the EU, Australia, and Japan. It examines types of devices used, vehicles used on, design, strength, effectiveness, installation, fuel consumption, environmental impacts, and collision statistics. In addition, it considers how requiring side guards as a safety feature on heavy vehicles would affect Canadian road users.
