Rival backers eye standard gauge projects
Due to political instability in Thailand over recent years, railway investment plans have seen repeated revisions. However, as this article explains, new projects are in the works, such as construction of a Chinese-backed standard gauge corridor, which is set to begin in late 2015, as well as three new line proposals, which Japanese officials are considering.
