The Mile Marker: A Caltrans Performance Report, First Quarter 2015

This issue of The Mile Marker carries the standard performance measures and trends for safety, mobility, sustainability, delivery and maintenance for the California Department of Transportation (Caltrans). This month's feature article looks at the North Coast Corridor Program in San Diego County where Interstate 5 is being overhauled along with the rail corridor that runs alongside it. In the sustainability category, there are articles on funding and the State Highway Operation and Protection Program (SHOPP); Caltrans' response to the Napa earthquake; the cost and value of state bridges; and, using technology to address incidents and resulting traffic delays. Other articles consider alternatives to the gas tax to fund transportation projects and describe the drop in state highway fatalities.
