An Iowa short line long in the making

The Cedar Rapids and Iowa City Railway Company has been in operation for over a century. It is a short line with one hundred miles of track in east-central Iowa. The railway has undergone a great deal of development during the time that it has been in business. Continuing development has helped the railroad’s business grow. Managers are currently looking into industrial development opportunities with large-scale plants and resuming transload services. The railroad is constantly developing its freight business and recently installed a wheel-truing lathe at its locomotive shop, which has drawn the attention of other railroads in the area. The railway has been improving infrastructure over the past few years and hopes to see the business continue to grow.
