MOTOR CAR FIRES DUE TO TRAFFIC ACCIDENTS

BILBRANDE OPSTAET I FORBINDELSE MED FAERDSELUHELD

144 cases of fires, which broke out in cars as a result of traffic accidents, were investigated, and a fire report was prepared on each individual accident by vehicle inspectors of the Danish State Motor Vehicle Inspection. The investigation covers accidents which occurred during the period of the 1st of July 1966 to the 31st of March 1970. It was conducted by the Danish State Motor Vehicle Administration, who also carried out most of the preliminary preparation of various information and data contained in the fire reports. Only 97 out of the 144 fire accidents were sufficiently severe for the vehicle cabin to catch fire. 25 different makes of cars are represented in the reports. 9 of these makes do account for approximately 80% of the accidents studied. /IRRD-IRF/
