MODERN RAIL FASTENINGS
The behavior of the rail and sleeper as the wheel load passes is examined and shows that the flexibility of the rail fastening is a vital consideration because of the sleeper mass and the vertical accelerations produced. A fastener is described which can be installed with wood, steel or prestressed concrete, is relatively maintenance-free and easy to install.
