Alternative logistical scenarios for cabotage of Amazonas using computer simulation

Cenários logísticos alternativos para a cabotagem do estado do Amazonas utilizando simulação computacional

This work proposes the analysis of operational feasibility of alternative logistics scenarios for the cabotage of the Amazonas state using computer simulation. The study developed alternative scenarios using the concepts of service feeder and hub ports. Such scenarios were simulated in software Arena® with operations data from between 2010 and 2012. Different previous studies, this study analyzed the issue of operational efficiency of cabotage in the state of Amazonas using computer simulation and construction alternative scenarios based on the concept of hub-and-spoke network. The results showed that the scenarios that had an average occupancy rate of ports around 70% are those who have the best operational indicators, showing that the viability of the scenarios constructed depends on the balance between the required demand and the system handling capacity. Thus, the main innovation of the work was use of the proposed service feeder in Amazonas state and the main contribution is to have clarified the relationship between the demand and the operating performance of alternative scenarios.
