NEW REMOVABLE SHAFT COUPLING

A removable propeller shaft coupling has recently been developed for use aboard high-powered ships that has advantages in both cost reductions and a decrease of mechanical problems over conventional flange and muff type shaft couplings. A description of the new shaft coupling, noting several of its advantages and giving details of installation and method of operation, is included in the article.
