A NEW NAVIGATIONAL ECHO SOUNDER TO IMCO RECOMMENDATIONS
A description is given of a new echo sounding system specifically designed to meet the navigational depth measurement requirements of commercial vessels recently recommended by the Inter-Governmental Maritime Consultative Organization (IMCO). The recorder described is designed to meet proposed new regulations covering the fitting of echo sounding equipment on such vessels, and it is also designed to overcome disadvantages that have previously been apparent in visual indicating depth reading instruments. The proposed new regulations are discussed briefly, with the description of the depth recorder and its various capabilities given to show how it complies with the proposed regulations.
