USE OF SORBENTS FOR OIL SPILL CLEANUP
Six basic unit operations required to achieve oil removal are being investigated: Sorbent Broadcasting, Oil-Sorbent Harvesting, Oil-Sorbent Separation, Vessel or Platform Configuration, Oil Storage or Disposal, Sorbent Reuse or Disposal. Data developed to date indicate the feasibility or sorbent systems able to effectively and efficiently recover oil floating on the water surface without contribution to solid waste or air pollution problems.
