THE EXISTING CAMPUS URBAN AND SUBURBAN

THE HISTORY OF INVOLVEMENT OF UNIVERSITY AND COMMUNITY IS DISCUSSED. AS A UNIVERSITY DEVELOPS THERE ARE CONFLICTS IN MAINTAINING EXISTING NEIGHBORHOOD CHARACTER. THE CAMPUS AND THE COMMUNITY SHOULD BE MUTUAL IMAGE-BUILDERS. CAMPUS SETTINGS IN NEBRASKA, NORTH TEXAS, OHIO ARE REVIEWED AND TYPICAL PATTERNS OF GROWTH ANALYZED. URBAN RENEWAL PROJECTS NEED TO BE COORDINATED WITH UNIVERSITY GROWTH AND THE CITY. RESEARCH IS RECOMMENDED INTO THE PSYCHOLOGICAL AND SOCIOLOGICAL FACTORS AFFECTING THE INTERCHANGE OF COMMUNITY AND CAMPUS AND THE DEVELOPMENT OF THE UNIVERSITY NEIGHBORHOOD.
