The book is intended for engineers and technicians in the shipbuilding industry engaged in the design and maintenance of automatic systems of marine power plants. Problems of efficiently designing complex automatic control systems for marine diesels with controllable pitch propellers, operating under steady-state conditions with a minimum runaway and reverse time are discussed. The protection of the system against overloading is also considered. Statistical characteristics of automatic control systems and the effect of external working conditions on them are analyzed. Principles for constructing optimum control systems are covered, and a description is given of the pneumatic system of a complex automated power plant.
