A standard stepwise multiple regression algorithm was used to find the optimum sulfate content as a function of numerous varialbes for cement data published by Lerch. Good correlation was achieved with as few as three variables (Blaine fineness, sodium oxide and iron oxide content). The correlation coefficient was 0.99 and the standard error 0.15. The equations developed are not general for all plants and mix designs, but the general approach should be valuable in plant control. /Author/
