SAFETY STANDARDS FOR SNOWMOBILES REQUIRED BY THE FEDERAL GOVERNMENT OF CANADA, MINISTER OF TRANSPORT

Safety standards of the Government of Canada require that a muffler containing baffles or equivalent noise reducing material be fitted to each exhaust pipe of a snowmobile. The sound intensity of a snowmobile equipped with a muffler must not exceed 82 dB(A) when measured in accordance with the SAE Recommended Practice J192 Exterior Sound Level for Snowmobiles. These standards become effective on February 1, 1972.
