Measurement and Assessment of Dowels and Tie Bars in Road Concrete Pavement Joints

Mereni a hodnoceni polohy kluznych trnu a kotev ve sparach cementobetonovych krytu vozovek

This methodology describes the methods of performing measurements of positions of dowels and tie bars in non-reinforced road concrete pavements with joints with the use of non-destructive methods: georadar, MIT Scan-2, manual positioning detector of the built-in steel reinforcement. Furthermore, the methodology describes the purpose of measurements and the methods to evaluate the measured data in compliance with the requirements specified in CSN 73 6123-1. It also contains the measures which should be taken in case the requirements are not met. The methodology is also applicable for: road and motorway constructions including car parks, emergency and handling areas, and airport surface in a certain extent. The methodology is particularly designed for contractors (for continuous checking during concrete surface laying) and for investors (for acceptance tests) and road administrators (in case of occurrence of failures or doubts in correct placement of dowels and tie bars during the warranty period and after the period). It is an outcome of a project of the Technological Agency of the Czech Republic TA02031195: Position of dowels and tie bars in concrete road pavements and impact of their correct position on behaviour and life span of pavements.
