Significance of Dowels in Concrete Pavements
Vyznam kluznych trnu v cementobetonovych krytech vozovek
Concrete surfaces are designed for heavy loaded road pavements. Their usage brings a number of various issues that need to be deal with, so that the pavements are fully functional along the whole service life. One of these issues is the use of dowels located in transverse joints. Modelling of loading caused by heavy vehicle overruns by the use of the finite element method provides valuable information on the stress conditions of concrete pavement slabs. The modelling results can be verified by measuring by strain gauges appropriately located in the pavement structure or by laboratory experiments.
