The Fit to Drive-Congresses. Looking back from 2006-2012
Since 2006, six Fit to Drive-Congresses have taken place; in Berlin, Vienna, Prague, Tallinn, The Hague and Barcelona. In 2013, the congress is back in Berlin again. The Fit to Drive-Congresses have become a repeated meeting occasion for experts and interested persons, who aim to serve traffic safety within the European Community. The overall aim of the Fit to Drive-Conferences from the beginning on was to contribute to the decrease of the road traffic fatalities following the European Road Safety Action Programme 2001 - 2010 and now the new Road Safety programme 2011 - 2020. The paper gives an overview on goals of the congresses, regularly taken up congress themes, themes presented so far, as well as future perspectives and working areas.
